The beautiful city of Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan. It is well known as the Pink City because of its trademark color of buildings.

The former are mostly the construction of the Rajput ruler Jai Singh II in the year 1727. Jai Singh II built the city of Jaipur in accordance with the Vastu Shastra and Shilpa Shastra of the Indian culture. The history of Jaipur is quite interesting as before independence the city was named as Rajputana city because the rulers had good relations with the East India Company.
However post-independence, the city was named Jaipur and became the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is now the 10th most populous city in India. It has 2 UNESCO World Heritage Sites which are Amer Fort and Jantar Mantar.
Jaipur is famous for its wonderful and colorful handicrafts and textiles. It has the most amazing markets for shopping and fooding. Daal Baati Churma is a famous traditional dish that is served here. Further in sweets, Ghevar is loved by everyone.
Marwari and standard Hindi is the most preferred language here but due to tourism, English is understood and spoken by many.
